Show Report

This year's gymkhana took place on Saturday 26 June and we had another year of fantastic entries and even the weather was glorious up to and on the day of the show. The cross country entries were again at capacity with the novice horse and pony class being the most popular with 58 entrants. The cross country course was slightly different this year, being run in the opposite direction and this seemed to be quite successful. The morning showing classes weren't as busy in comparison to the unexplainably high numbers we had last year, however, record numbers of entries were taken for the showjumping and we had 27 competitors in the open horse showjumping class!

I hope that everyone enjoyed their day and I would like to thank all the competitors, spectators and sponsors for supporting the show. All the feedback I have received so far has been positive, with one 5 year old announcing to her mum that it was the best day she had ever had, better than Disneyland - high praise indeed! As usual the children's fun classes were fiercely contended and some of the fancy dress outfits looked absolutely magnificent - well done for all the effort put into these costumes!

As always I would like to extend my huge thanks to all the volunteers who kindly give up their time to help with aspects of the show including all the judges, stewards, xc jump judges and time-keepers and the runners who support everyone. Without these volunteers the show wouldn't happen and their help is greatly appreciated.

Well done also to the Committee, who worked really hard preparing for the show then clearing up the aftermath - another fabulous effort by the Committee, who have been dedicated to the Blair Gymkhama for many years.
